Economic Development
The Capital Region Planning Commission provides economic development support for the eleven parish region. CRPC receives an annual grant from the Economic Development Administration. This grant enables CRPC to provide economic development technical and planning assistance to parishes and municipalities. CRPC produces an annual updated Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). This CEDS report provides important demographic and statistical information for the region and sets economic development goals and objectives. It provides a snap-shot of the region as it is today and shows comparisons to the past. CRPC assist parishes and communities in completing EDA grant applications. EDA grants are distributed on sound research-based, market-driven economic development policy, which is considered the foundation for effective and efficient economic development program implementation. EDA continues to target resources in economically distressed communities; however, in order to achieve the highest return on the taxpayers investment, EDA will stress investments that drive economic growth. Priority will be given to proposals that:
